Ellie's New Home

Ellie used to live in Australia but then her dad got a new job in Mexico and she had to move there. Ellie was excited to move, she would get to explore a new place! She started packing right away. But the more she packed, the more she realized how much she would miss her old home. It wouldn’t be the same - she would have a new home with a new room and a new neighborhood. She would need to make new friends at a new school. Everything would change! Ellie ran to her mom crying. “I don’t want to move!” she cried. “Everything will be different! Our new house won’t be home!”. “Don’t worry Ellie, everything will be okay.” Ellie’s mom’s reassuring voice calmed her down. She was glad her mom was going with her. “The house that we are moving to will become your new home. When we get there it will be a house, a building with walls and a roof. But over time it will become your home, it will be a place where you feel safe, a place that you’ll love and won’t want to leave,'' her mom told her. Ellie wiped away her tears, she felt better now. “Okay,” Ellie sighed. She was feeling better. A month later they were moving into their new house. Ellie looked at her new house. As she walked into it, she started to cry. “This house is horrible! It’s not home!” she yelled. “Remember Ellie,” her mom told her, “you need to give this house a chance, you’ll learn to love it. I promise.” Ellie’s mom was right. A month later Ellie had made new friends and loved her teacher, school, neighbourhood and new room. Her house had become her home and she loved it so much!
