Home, a Safe Place

Home is not just a place, it’s a feeling that’s inside you. Home is the soft and fluffy blanket that’s curled around me while I read my dusty old book. Home is the smell of my mom baking soft and crunchy peach cobbler in the kitchen and the smell of the burning fire in my fireplace. Home is when I see my mom peacefully reading her online book while she makes dinner and my brothers talking to my dad and watching tv. Home is when I hear the fire crackling, the church bells ringing and the birds chirping. Home is where we make memories, like when we went to Texas and my first Christmas. Home is the feeling that everything is surrounded and made with love, and were I feel like I’m in a safe place and like I could stay there forever and still be happy. But some people don’t have a safe place where they can be happy. That’s why I’m thankful for Habitat for Humanity; because they help people who are in need. Let’s remember home is not just a place: it’s a feeling.
