What Home Means to Me

Home is safe and a place where I don’t have to worry about anything. My dog is always waiting for me to get home. She wags her tail as soon as she sees me. This makes me feel happy and good inside. When I walk in the door I smell the best things cooking. My mom is always cooking for us. I love when my mom makes burritos with lots of toppings. Every time my family eats together we cheer with our glasses for good luck. When we cheer our glasses I feel close and connected to my family. I have a sister and a dad at my house too. My sister is a true friend. She always asks me to play with her when I get home. Our home is a nice place to play. When my dad gets home you know he is there. He always makes sure to greet us when he gets back home. Home to me feels cozy and warm. It also feels soft and sweet. My house smells like candles almost everyday. They smell sweet and they calm me down. When I lie on my bed my body sinks into it. My dog sleeps with me at night. This makes me feel safe. I am glad that I can come home and have a nice warm shower and water of all temperatures. I am grateful that I have air conditioning on hot summer days and heat on cold winter nights. When you have a home you also have a neighbour. Without a neighbourhood I would be lonely. My neighbours care and treat us nicely. I love my home because it protects me and gives me the shelter that I need. It’s nice to call a house a home. I think that everyone should have shelter and a place to call home so they are not left by themselves in the cold.
