Home is...

Home is a messy room and an unmade bed. Home can come in every shape, human, stuffed animal, animal, music, and literal home. Most, like me, are talking about literal homes. Home can come in different sights. Home is a messy makeup and hair desk, a cat laying on your chest when you're crying. Home is melted snow on the ground after my dog had dragged it in from outside. Home is cat hair covering black objects. Home is my dog never using her bed, but mine. Home is running in the dark until you start laughing. Home is feeling hot water enveloping my hands when I wash the dishes at my dads. Home is feeling my cat's paws on my chest at 4AM when she wakes me up for pets. Home is the feeling of brushing hair. I hear my cat crying outside my closed door at 5AM before I get in the shower. I hear my dog whining when I'm home alone with her. I hear the front door open, close, open, close on every school morning. I hear my cat open my door while I'm doing my hair and makeup. I hear my horses chewing on their hay after I close them in for the night. I taste my cat's hair after she fishes my toothbrush out of my bathroom drawer. I taste the ice cubes sitting on my tongue. I smell the humidity floating around my bathroom after a long shower in the evening. I smell the tangy smell of my younger sister's hair spray. I smell the honey when I open my cabinets in the kitchen. I smell my hair burning after I didn't use heat protection on my hair while straightening it.
