Home is more than a house!

Home is a zone where there is care in the air, fair and it's rare. Home is more than a house. Home is somewhere that everyone needs and should have. Home is my family, yard and food. These things are full of energy, love and support. I think everyone should feel that to. Habitat for Humanity can build a house for a deserving family and the family can make it into a home. Home is my family because I feel safe, supported and loved with them. When I'm with my family we usually watch a movie which is my favourite because we get comfortable, eat dinner and laugh together. Even if someone’s feeling down or upset we all try to make the best out of it and that is why they feel like home. Home is my yard because it's big and there's so many memories in it. When my family moved, we only moved for the property because we moved from the city to PEC which was a big change. I've had a trampoline but it broke, a pool which we sold and a fire pit which is overgrown with plants but even if they're not there I still have the memories. We have a dog that's small and white he runs around when he has the zoomies. That is why it feels and is home to me. Food is home because of my moms cooking, my dads cooking and my grandparents cooking. On my moms side of the family, I'm part Jamaican and part Chinese so you can imagine that there's some different delicious food and desserts that are made whenever we go over to their house. My grandpa on the other hand has a main dish which is mac and cheese. It has a crust over it, that makes it special and keeps it warm.my mom always comes up with something delicious but my favourite is her tikka masala which is a curry. I always feel like I’m little again safe, warm and calm. Home is more than a house and I hope and wish everyone will experience the same feeling of having your own space to do anything and make so many memories. Home is so important to me and filled with so many memories and love. I want to help Habitat for Humanity build a home for a family so that they can create their own memories. -Kira
