The Four Seasons of Home
Winter
The gentle snow landed on top of my nose as I lay down in my backyard with my furry checkered white and black dog scurrying across snowy grass. Coming inside and spelling the creamy hot chocolate waiting for me on the kitchen table made with so much love by my mom.
Staying up late celebrating the new year for everybody to hear.
Waking up early to check if school is canceled that day because of the meters of cloudy snow that had fallen that night.
Going to the rink outside and playing hockey with my friends, and hoping that this fun winter will never end.
Spring
The purple yellow and white spring crocuses arrive and the snow from the never ending winter starts to melt away, sinking into the ground that is now spreaded with little spouts of light green grass that is popping up everywhere I look, and the tree starts to blossom again with wonderful colors of cherry pink and cloudy white.
Summer
The days are getting longer and hotter. The hockey session has come to an end with school ending closely after that.
The ocean water is at a perfect temperature to take a dip at the beach with the sun blazing over it with a delightful yellow and orange tinge in the wild bright navy blue sky.
We visit my cottage and eat the nice summer berries with a variety of red dark cherries.
We swim all day in the simmering lake with the trees' reflection balancing perfectly over the lake.
Autumn
The sun sets and before I know it the school year begins with new work and new projects to complete with satisfaction every time I finish one. The cool breeze sets a tone in the air as the colorful leaves land everywhere and the urge instead of me to jump into the endless pile of rich leaves is outstandingly strong. And now it's back to winter, which is different every year.
And that's one spectacular year at my home.
