What home means to me

Home is a place you feel comfortable in. Home is a place where your life will begin. Home is a giant snowball filled with my whole community. Home is a place that gives everybody many opportunities. I used the snowball to roll in everyone’s hopes, dreams, experiences and mistakes. Nothing will stop me from going home whatever it takes. The snowball is also wrapping up the laughter, love and joy. Home might be a remarkable thing like my baby cousin’s chewing toy. Home is my camera capturing everything I do. Capturing all my memories that I can view. Capturing my mom’s perfect morning cappuccino. Capturing all my memories from my friend who’s Filipino. Capturing my last photos of Dusty before it escaped. Capturing my last drawings of Dusty and how it is shaped. Capturing my last moments with my dad in China before I went to Canada with my mom. Capturing myself crying while my dad put in every effort to make me calm. Home feels like the warm crackle of the fire hugging me. Home sounds like my mom sipping a warm cup of tea. Home tastes like my mom’s unique recipe, the spicy seafood stinging my tongue. Home smells like mother nature’s fresh air in my lungs. Home looks like the river flowing and guiding me to a better place. I always wonder, staring in the sky, “What would it be like if my home was in space.” Home is a place where I will always stay. Nothing will ever keep me away. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for building homes for people without a home. They might even have built one for a tiny forest gnome!
