This is What Home Means to Me

Hello, my name is Elina and I’m in fourth grade. This is what home means to me. The first thing I think of when I think about home is my loved ones. Loved ones can be anyone. Family, friends and pets. Home also means safety. When I come home from school, I don't feel unsafe. I don’t feel that my house could fall over or if it could flood. I feel safe in my home. Home can be anywhere you feel safe and with your loved ones. Home can be anywhere you call home. It also means to have a safe and warm place to sleep when it’s cold outside. Home means to have food to eat and clean water to drink and to have a warm place to sleep. Home means to sit at the dinner table and eat home-made food with family. Home is where I feel kindness and love. My loved ones and friends help me feel kindness and love. They make me smile and laugh and make sad times happy. They help me have fun and keep me safe at the same time. Home is where I learn. I learn from my loved ones and friends. I learn new things at home every day. I also learn at school. School is another place I feel safe. Home means no judgment and where all feelings are accepted. That’s something that helps me feel safe. Yes, sometimes we argue, but that doesn't mean that we don’t love each other. Truly, home is where you can just be yourself. Thank you for reading. I would like to give a special thanks to Habitat for humanity for giving us a chance to help people in need.
