My Safe Place

Many people say “Home’s a place, where I’m happy!” However home’s actually a place where you go through the hard and happy times. One thing that won’t change is, regardless of what happens you go through it with the same people. There will always be a special group of people you will always feel connected to, in your home. You see, when my dog Willow had to be put down because of cancer. I cried every night for weeks. However, my sister comforted and grieved with me, even though she swore she hated that dog. Yet it felt like losing a family member, one that had been with me since I was 3 years old. She was the type of dog I could kiss on the forehead and cry with, when I didn’t want my family to see me crying. Remember, home isn’t always just family it can also be an animal. However, my mom, brother and I went on a camping trip last summer she was going to surprise us with a visit to her old friend. That old friend actually had a litter of golden doodle puppies! But my sister may have told me we were going to see puppies. Though, it was only to take a look at them. Yet, I fell in love with one of them. My mom noticed, and before we knew it we had Oakley! Furthermore, now we have home that feels almost complete! There will always be a part of me that misses willow. Yet, now I look back and think of all the happy memories with Willow, and don’t feel so sad! I hope Habitats for Humanity will make another family be able to have great memories with tons of love! Hopefully, they have a pet that makes everyone happy!
