What a Home Means to Me

When I walk into my home I know that I am safe and loved. A home isn’t just a structure you live in It can come in all shapes and sizes, But most importantly a home is a place you share with people you love most. A place where you share the most memories from your first word to getting your driver's license. Home is where your family is, the people who raised you, people who sacrificed for you and spent lots of their money and time on you. They’re the people who spend every year with you and put the candles on your cake. You never acknowledge how much you need them until they’re gone. Every Home is different with cultures and traditions. It’s where I always have the tangy flavor of fresh orange juice in my mouth. Where I always pick up my little brother's chatter, the cluttered kitchen, with dishes in the sink and containers scattered on the counter. The aroma of lit incense sticks that have the scent of warm sand, fleece pajamas hitting my legs with every step. Home is where I’m most comfortable. Home may not always be a joyful place, there may be conflicts and quarrels but at the end of the day I lay in bed and acknowledge that I even have a bed, a loving family, a home, and that I don’t have to be anxious about when my next meal will be. Home is where you have a small or big group who support you in what you want, whether it is the biggest, most ridiculous dream or an achievable thought. It’s the safest place to be, the place you think of when you say “I want to go home”, and that's what home means to me.
