The Meaning of Home
Yesterday my mom was on the train and she saw a man outside in the cold with his dog. Bill and his dog Teddy bill had no food or water so when my mom got back work she saw him again and she gave him some food for him and his dog, as well as some toys. Bill did not have a home but he had a dog that was a good companion while he was homeless.
In our community there are people who are living in tent city. Mary and Francine says it’s a very scary place to live, and despite their fears that still have each other, their families and friends and community.
There is a nice family down the street from our home. Joshua and his 4 kids live in a rooming house. Joshua works at a factory he likes to save money to buy what he can for his 4 kids. The kids are happy and they are cared for, warm and safe.
Despite their hardships and different types of homes, they each have something very special. Bill and his dog Teddy have a companionship, Mary and Francine have a community and Joshua has his family.
What I wish for the people in my community is for each of them to have a beautiful place to call home, a home where they are safe from bad weather, have power, running water, food and blankets and pillows and clean comfortable clothes. A home where they can fully enjoy their companionships, community and families.
