The Meaning of Home

Home is remarkable, whether spotless or not. The memories. The warmth. And maybe even a pot! The cozy blankets that wrap me quite snug, and a sigh of relief as my mom squeezes me into a ginormous bear hug! Home has a smell that makes me relax, the freshly baked cookies, my favorite, gingersnaps. The delightful smell of detergent-smelling clothes soothes me as I fold each shirt as the cold air outside snows. Hearing my goats maaing a lot, makes me chuckle as I eventually get outside and feed them on the spot. Munching on hay and, well, that’s really it, I go inside, maybe just for a bit. I hear the sound of the TV on, and my sisters saying, “Please? Com'on!” I eventually decide to follow the two, just as one of them showed me what she drew. Tasting the sweetness of my mother’s homemade muffins, maybe even sharing one or two with my terrific cousins. Laughing around with all the people you love makes you appreciate all that you have, well, kind of. Seeing my family enjoy each other, makes me happy as I give a piggyback ride to my little brother. He smiles and giggles, and hops off my back, and my mom asks us if we want a little snack. Cookies and popcorn, and some candy too, we sit at the table and enjoy a game of clue. Touching some yarn and a crochet hook, is one of my favorite hobbies along with reading a book. Home means alot to me, not just because it looks or smells splendidly, but because of the memories that go along with it.
