My Haven

To me, home’s not just a place, It’s not just a shelter or a space. It’s a feeling of safety, love and joy, A feeling that can never be destroyed. Yes, it’s a building with four walls and a roof, But, it’s also where I learn to improve. In this poem you can read, What a home means to me. Safety is a key feature, At home I’ll never grow weaker. I don’t feel judged or alone, I feel secure with the feeling of home. I can be myself without hesitation, I can be weird and give no explanation. If I ever get injured or hurt, I will be healed and won’t feel like dirt. In an emergency I have a safe place to go to, My family’s there for me, even if we argue. Without love, a house can’t be a home, It wouldn't be the same if I were alone. I need my family to give a helping hand, And to appreciate me for who I am. If I feel upset or lonely, I have people who support me. My family makes me feel very special, Like I deserve to be cared for in general. With their support I can do what I desire, I feel like I could run through a fire. Joy makes me feel glad, It helps make me feel less sad. Even if I’m in a really bad mood, Others hold my spirit up high like a balloon. If I’m going through something, Home helps me shine and bling. Home requires smiles and happiness, So joy’ll prevent creating a huge mess. After all, home is filled with delight, And after everything, I’ll be alright. This is how to me, home is more than just a place. It’s the feeling of joy, love and being safe.
