A Home Is Far Different Than a House

Home is a shelter from storms, all sorts of storms, they say. A home is a place where you can hide from all the monsters in life, a place where you can hide from all the bothers in your life. Homes are chambers that give you warmth when you’re cold, chambers that hug you tight until your tears turn dry; chambers where you can curl into a ball and hide under the covers when the air’s icy and feisty. Homes are the special socks that you wear when your feet are cold. They’re like no others; you’re inseparable from them. They give you the necessities and comfort you need, just like home would. Home is by your side when you're at the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Home is there to support you, and help you achieve your biggest goals in life. Home is where during Ramadan, we make dua for us and our loved ones. Where we can be as religious as we want and where we can eat the most delicious iftar. Home is the place you run to when something goes dreadfully wrong; slam your door and drag your covers on yourself. Home is there to protect and secure you from all the daunting things in life, all the things that are haunting you. Home is where you can be as happy as you wish, or as shabby as you wish. Either a smile is all over your face or tears are running down your face at home. Home is there for you, specifically the people inside. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for giving people this opportunity, millions of people are grateful.
