What Home Mean's to ME

Home Home, home is different for everyone. My friends say it's about being surrounded by family and others say it's a place where you can be quiet. My friends’ responses didn't help me find my own meaning of home as much as I thought they would. Instead, I thought home is where I could just be myself. Where I'm not judged because of how I look and what my skin colour is. At Home, I will be accepted for who I am. Home is where I can be safe and where it's warm and loving inside. Home is not just a house, you make it home with the people that you laugh with and love, people that you feel comfortable with and feel safe with. Home is where I can kick back and relax and put my feet up. Home is where my emotions can be free like anger, sadness, fear, and joy. Where I know I won't be judged but comforted and loved. Home is a place where memories form, like moments that you never want to end, like when my family crowded around my new born baby brother. Lastly, home is a place where love grows. By Shayna Maphosa
