The Meaning of Home

There are many different houses in our community and each one is a home to a different person or family. Home is safety. When you are at home, you feel safe from the outside world. I am protected from dangerous things. Home is a shelter. It is a strong and sturdy place. At home, you are protected from bad weather and storms. Home is a happy place. At home, I feel like I can be myself. If I am sad and I go home my sadness goes away. I don’t have to act a certain way. My family will love me anyway. Home is cozy and comfortable. At home, I have my favourite things around me, like blankets, cozy furniture, clothing, and hugs. Home is healthy. At home, we have healthy habits. We are lucky to have good food and clean water. Home is a helping place. At home, I can get help from my family with anything I need. I can ask my family to help me and they will, no matter what. Home is about hope. I feel happy at home. It is a healing place where I can start over if I make a mistake.
