Home is a State of Mind and Heart

Home is a feeling in your heart, a thought in your mind; the word home can't always be defined. Home is a feeling of happiness and safety. When I see my dad after a long days hard work, seeing the happiness, joy, and curiosity in my dog's eyes. That is home. Home isn't a building, it's a state of mind and heart. When I feel at home I feel assured, warm, and cozy. Home is where you feel that you belong, your strong and can face anything. You can feel at home when you're doing an activity or when you're just talking to someone. For me home is talking and laughing with my favorite people and being all happy and faithful. Home is where I can feel I have a sense of community bonding. Cuddling up by the fire with the warm blankets and watching a comedy movie with my parents. The expectation of the little light flickering on in the morning, That means home. Practicing hockey in the garage with my dad, dancing to music with my mom, telling bad jokes to my grandpa. Now that is home. Home is the dinners that give you energy, the conversations that make you feel like the most important human ever, the laughs and the happiness. It's the feeling of being able to see my grandpa by just walking down a flight of stairs, or my dogs light feet and jumping barks when I come home from school. My dads laugh when I tell a horrible joke. And just talking as a family. Home can be all sorts of things! It's the feeling of jumping in my pool trying to splash my mom and dad. Home is the hugs before I go to bed, and always feeling relieved when I step through the door. That's what I think home is for. Home is for laughs, for the thrill, and for feeling bold and brave, and having a safe space. Home is a state of mind and heart you just have to do your part.
