Meaning of Home

Home is a place where I can be me. I do crazy dance moves to be silly. Jumping around, doing shoulder rolls, and cartwheels I keep trying because failure is so surreal. When I sneeze, it can be loud. I don’t hold it in, I’m allowed. When I see something funny, my laugh can be annoying. My family don’t mind, at least I’m not boring. Home is a place where I hear the words, I love you. They sound so sincere, so I believe those words are true. The hugs make feel warm like I’m wrapped in a big cozy blanket. It feels like I can power up a rocket and ride to a different planet. I can make mistakes and not worry about what others think. When I show my art to my family, they don’t tell me if it stinks. They encourage me to be an artist. I’m very good with drawing, but when it comes to shading, it’s the hardest. Home is a place where food is made with love. The kids get first dibs and there is no need to shove. Flavors of my favorite food keeps me full. But cabbage and peas are just awful. Hanging ornaments together on our Christmas tree is a tradition. Figuring out what’s inside each present is always my mission. Playing games at home with my brother teaches me strategy. Often, it ends up in tragedy. Home is a place where it is safe, clean or a mess. I try to put away all my toys, I do try my best. I once stepped on a Lego piece and got a bruise. I couldn’t walk. I stayed home and couldn’t snooze. Home is where I want to be. I get a lot of love from my family. They keep me warm and safe. Home is a very loving place.
