The Arrival of Home

I helped put the last luggage in the car as my family and I prepared to go to the airport. The day has come, I will be on my flight to Canada. I am about to move from Africa, Nigeria to North America, Canada. My family and I waved our last goodbyes to our Aunties, neighbours and friends, hoping to see them once again for visits. We reached the Nigerian airport. From there we landed in America, Atlanta and then, finally we reached Canada, Winnipeg. Moving to Canada was not that easy. It was kind of hard looking for a home. We stayed in an Airbnb first for some weeks, but that was not it. We moved into an apartment which felt a little bit like home. Now let us talk about what home really feels to me. Home is having a new school and some new friends. Home is spending time with family members. Home smells like crispy eggs and the toast my brother makes (which always gets burnt). Home is the delightful smell of traditional foods that fills the room with the wonderful aroma it gives. I see home as an awesome paradise with family and friends. Home is being able to share your culture and where you come from with friends and other people.
