The Meaning of Home to Me

The meaning of home to me… Home is a place where you can come together with your family. It is a place where you feel safe and loved. A home is much more than a house. A house is a structure but my home has a place in my heart. My home is where I can be myself. It is where I can chase my dog around the backyard, annoy my sister when she’s trying to read, or curl up on the couch and watch TV. Home is where I come back to after school and share my day with my family over a home cooked meal. Home is where I sleep and rest after school and gymnastics training. It is where I make memories with family and friends. It is where I celebrate my birthday and special occasions. My home feels like part of my family and is one of my favourite places to be. I recently moved to a new home. It was hard to leave my old home because of all the memories that were made there. Sometimes I miss my old home and feel sad. But then I remind myself of what is really important…. And that is at the end of the day I still have a safe and warm place to call home. To think that some kids, adults, and pets don’t have a safe place to call home makes me feel very sad. I am grateful that Habitat for Humanity builds houses for people in need so they too can call a house a home. My wish is that everyone can have a safe place to call home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for creating a fun activity for students and helping those in need.
