The Meaning of Home

Home. What does home mean to you? I recently learned that there is a difference between a house and a home. It’s different for everybody, but let me tell you what the meaning of home is for me. Home is my kitchen, the smells, the tastes, and the feeling of happiness and joy while we make ice cream Sundaes or homemade pasta. It is the feeling of sneakiness when I’m having a sleepover and tip-toe over to the fridge for a midnight snack with my best friend. Home is also my living room. My family and I usually gather there after dinner and play a board game, watch a movie, or even just talk about our day by the fireplace. I love my living room because I have so many memories, both happy and sad, angry and surprised. Even when I get old and move out, I will always remember my living room. Finally, home is my bedroom. I feel safe, loved, and happy when I walk into my room. I spend hours reading, drawing, sleeping, singing or socializing with my friends. I've cried tears of joy and pain, and I feel the most safe and the most like myself in my room. As you can see, my cozy living room, joyful kitchen and safe bedroom is the meaning of home for me. As L. Frank Baum said, “There's no place like home.” Thank you for reading, I'm going to go to sleep in my comfy bed now. Goodnight.
