The Meaning of Home

Home is not a fancy house or the latest giant mansion. Home is somewhere it just feels like it is calling to you. Home can be in a house where in this world, looks bad but for me and my family, it is like a place just for us. Back then in Nigeria when my parents told me that I was going to Canada I was at first nervous about moving I never wanted to go. When I got to my new home in Canada it felt the same inside as it was outside, cold. At my old home, home is where the smell of my mom famous cooking fills the air with their aroma. Home is where the scenery of lush grass and trees fill my house with joy and light. Home is where me and me and my sister laugh and play until we sleep. Home is where my family gets together to do our monthly prayer. My new home however it also feels the exact same as my old house, beautiful scenery, the aroma of my family cooking etc. yet it feels like something is off, that something is missing. Everything seems the same but at the same time, different and I think know the reason. It’s because at our old house, since we had no neighbors living right next to us. We could be as loud and proud as we wanted to be. At our new house we had to be quieter but still its home, nonetheless. Thank you, habitat, for humanity for all the amazing work that you have done.
