What Home Means To Me

Home. A place where I’m surrounded by my loved ones. I walk in the door of my house and my dogs jump on me more than they ever do with anyone else. Then once I leave they look so sad. My one dog sleeps on my bed with me every night. With his soft fur beneath my fingers and his warm body heat in my arms, I feel loved. My cat only ever sleeps with me in my room. He lays on the foot of my bed. His fluffy fur on my feet, I feel loved. My family is always excited to see me when I open the door as they arrive at my house. The way they look at me and hug me, I feel loved. My parents when they pick me up from school, I run to them and hug them they hold me close, and I feel loved. The things that they do for me. All the time they say that they would do anything for me, I feel loved. Home. A place where I am safe. When I go to bed at night my dog sleeps by my bedroom door. Me knowing she’s there protecting me from anything, I feel safe. When I had heard that one of my dogs wasn’t doing well, my mom held me close as tears ran down my face, and I nudged my face into my mom, I felt safe. I came home from school, and my mom said that I looked sad, I was. My mom cuddled me until I was ready to pull away, I felt safe. I was riding my horse when I fell off, and immediately I started to cry. My dad ran to me grasped me and held me close, I felt safe. I know that I am safe when I’m at my home. That is what home means to me.
