Home to Me

To me home means a place to go for comfort and happiness with my family. It means a place to work together to make something. To laugh and share stories. Playing at home with my family members makes me feel like nothing could ever go wrong in the world. A cozy and safe place to play with my siblings whenever I feel like it. Reading with my sister is home. Drinking tea and talking to my mom is home, going on bike rides with my dad, building stuff with my brothers just feeling safe and happy is home. My parents by my side and my siblings there to support me is home. A place I can make mistakes over and over again but STILL trying. A place to eat, sing and be happy together is home. Home is a place of babysitting and chores, a place I can feel responsible and helpful with everything I do. That’s a place where I can just sit on a chair reading a book with a blanket caved around me. Home is comfort and happiness, it’s a place to go when I’m hurt or sad. Home gives me a safe, proud, and happy feeling that I’m loved and respected by all of my family members. At home feels like the luckiest person in the world. That is home to me. –Brooklyn Waldner, Grade 5
