What Homes Means to Me

Home is not just a place to sleep and eat, It is not just a place to live. Home is a place where your journey starts and ends, Whether it be a school day, a vacation, or a trip to the grocery store. Home smells like freshly made brown sugar buns to me, Ready to be consumed with pleasure. It smells like my mom cooking egg fried rice in a wok, Filling the room with a delicious aroma. Home sounds like my sister and I playing together to me, The walls echo with our chatter. It sounds like my sister playing the violin, While masked under the music my pencil scratches on my homework sheets. Home tastes like delicious hot pot to me, Awakening my eager-to-eat taste buds. It tastes like hot chocolate with whipped cream and mini marshmallows, Warming me up after a long snowy day. Home looks like a cozy clutter to me, Everywhere you can find my toys, our books, or pencils. It looks like all my little crafts, Hand-made with origami paper by me. Home feels like safe zone to me, A place where I would go if I was ever frightened. It feels like where I would go to relax, With no high expectations or strict rules. Habitat for Humanity provides houses to people in need of a home, They help, they give, and so can you.
