Meaning of Home

Every day when I wake up, I feel the gentle touch of my mom as she rocks me awake. My home is filled with laughter, we play games and stick up for each other. My home is where I feel safe, protected, and it's where I belong. When I wake up on a weekend, I can smell the chicken sizzling away in the cooker. I can see my mom washing the mint and coriander leaves as my dad gets the blender to mix them up. I can hear the banging and clashing of plates as my parents rushed around the room. As my mom puts it, on the table, I run to it hoping I can get a bite before any no else! As I set up the table for us to eat, the smell of Chicken, followed by the tender aroma of basmati rice, filled the place. In a corner, I can see my brother with a computer doing his homework. In my home I make memories and share them with my family, a place filled with joy. As my family cuddles up in a blanket, the movie turns on, I go to check on my fish as I hear my goldfish making bubbles in the tank as I teach him tricks. He knows how to follow my finger and to turn left and right. I miss him a lot as he is gone. I hope everyone has a home where they can feel loved and cared for. Not only that, but I thank habitat for humanity for giving me this opportunity to write what home means to me.
