What Home Means to Me

Definition: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household: home. _________________________________________________________________________________________ When I think of home I think of movie night with my whole family relaxing on our living room couch, eating extra butter popcorn out of the Maple Leafs and our Raptors giant popcorn buckets, as my dad starts to drift off to sleep. When I imagine home, I imagine the smell of dinner cooking or yummy chocolate chip cookies in the oven. Home sounds like the volleyball hitting my wrists when I’m playing outside or in the basement. Home is like a big comfy blanket hugging me tight, so I feel warm and comfortable. I think of home and imagine my family and I at the dinner table talking about school and playing trivia or quiz games. Home is where I love going and laying on my sisters' bed or sitting at her desk to annoy her and talk about our day. Home is where I can be weird and silly and be myself because no one can tell me not to. It's not always perfect, but nothing ever is. At home I feel safe and protected, because it's my home, and I love it. __________________________________________________________________ “Home is where my habits have a habitat.” - Fiona Apple
