The Meaning of Home

A house is not a home. A house is just a structure with walls, a floor and a roof. A home can be anything from the largest mansion to the smallest shack and anything in between. What makes a home is different for everyone, nevertheless a home can mean different things. For some it is a prison, a place they feel they don’t belong and for others it’s a place they celebrate after they win the championship hockey game. Family is usually a big part in people’s homes. Even if your family and you aren’t very connected you are still there for each other through thick and thin. Home for me is a place where I am loved and cared for by family. A place where I can cuddle up with a book warm cup of hot chocolate as I watch the squirrels jump from tree to tree as snow descends gently to the ground. My brother is playing on his Nintendo switch. My Mom is in the kitchen and my dad is in his office. Home for me has a lot to do with family. Sometimes family can be tough and sometimes you may feel like the ground is breaking between you but with a lot of love and a bit of duct tape you and your family will get back together. A house is just a structure and a home, well a home can be anything.
