This Reminds me of Home

I sit on my deck, feel the sizzling sun heating up my skin and watch the light blue sky and clouds passing by. Sometimes when I’m siting in my backyard, I can feel the fresh cool wind brushing by and giving me goosebumps on my skin. When it’s movie night I smell the buttery popcorn straight from the microwave and the salty taste touching my lips, it melts into my mouth. The coziness I feel with my family and snuggle with a blanket. This reminds me of home. In the neighborhood, I can hear basketballs dribbling and kids screaming and laugher. I watch my neighbours walk their dogs across from me as I listen to the barks that scream from their mouth. When I go for a walk, I can smell the eucalyptus-like scent from the pine trees. When it’s Winter, I go outside and feel the cold sand-like texture on the snow and see snowflakes hanging in my hair getting trapped. When I stare out of my foggy window on a snowy day, I watch numerous vibrant birds, siting on trees or flying by. Sometimes, I watch each tiny snowflake dropping from above. This reminds me of home. When I go out, I stare outside the window of my car I see thick and thin trees and see huge farmlands. The taste of warm, creamy, and cheesy Canadian poutine blasting every element into my mouth. Opening the window, I feel the gushing air smacking my face and smell the fresh, clean air. When I go out and it’s starts to pour, I feel the pitter-patter of the rain soaking into my skin and hair. The rain is gentle and calm that I could hear every droplet splattering on the ground. When I go to school, walking down a pathway connected to my school, I see the Canadian flag waving in the wind, and I proudly remember that I’m Canadian. This reminds me of home
