A new home

A poem inspired by a Ukrainian family Happy family happy home Peaceful country, life is honey now there's war and fear far and wide, the world holds their breath. missiles, bombs, and shells as well. We have to go so we may escape the foe many emotions, the time drawing near The time is here The time is now. To leave my home, the only place I’ve known to start over someplace new. Unknown words, different cultures. I am lost in a path that never ends Kindness from random strangers Driving through the dark of the night The soft, crunchy buttered bagel touching my lips The sweet, warm cappuccino traveling down my throat. Trees are frosted Snow is falling A journey to a house built of compassion A town shaped of kindness A country formed of freedoms No more war No more fear This country is my new home Habitats for Humanity is doing this contest so other people may have a home too.
