The Meaning of Home

What is a house? What is a home? When you think of a house, you probably think of it as the same thing a home, but that is not the case. A house is a building. Usually one that is bought and sold, or built and torn down. A home is a place full of memories, family and character. A place for togetherness, but also alone time. When I think of home, I think of what I see, taste, hear, smell, and touch. I see my dog coming to get attention. I hear my younger sibling playing the piano(which they are very good at) . I smell my moms amazing chicken pot pie. I taste my dads famous homemade burgers, and I feel my bed sheets as I go to bed. A home is also a place where you should feel safe and welcomed. Lots of people like their own space in a home. That could be an art corner, a bedroom, or even just a backyard. An idea of a safe home could be a house with locking doors, or a dog that barks when someone is at the door. It could also be having your parents there every night when you go to sleep, or having your siblings there when you are home alone. The meaning of home is different to everyone, but this is the meaning of home to me.
