Thoughts of home, home thoughts

When I think of home I think of music. I think of my Mom and Dad blasting music in the car while my Sister and I jam out. I think of my Mom singing along even though she doesn’t know the words and my Sister and I rolling our eyes. I hear my Dad’s voice shaking the walls as he sings along with Pavarotti. When I think of home I think of meals. I think of the sizzling sound of the salmon on the barbeque. I hear the crashing sound of the blender fighting to make my smoothie. I can hear the squeal of my sister's excitement when my dad announces he is making his famous ice cream. The knife, clashing against the wooden board slowly chopping candies. The sound of chocolate fudge crunching our mouths. I think of the aroma of coffee filling the air as it sputters out its last few drops. When I think of home I think of my family. I think of my Mom’s warm smile as she marches up the stairs to read with me. We laugh at the funny pronunciations we make up for all the words. I look at my sister playing Just Dance and all I can do is stare at her while she beats me. I hear my Dad talking to someone through his airpods as he laughs and chuckles away. I can think of the movie night where we have all snuggled up in our fur blankets munching on fresh popcorn and treats. A home is like a puzzle you just fit in.
