The meaning of home

My home is the comfort of my surroundings - my overflowing bookshelves, my dozens of stairs, my cozy reading corner. My home is the ringing of bells and the blowing of conchshells at my downtown temple, the voice of my grandfather calling my name, the sound of silence when I go to bed at night. My home is the fragrance of incense floating through the house after our morning worship, the aroma of bread baking in the oven, the scent of lavender that reminds me of my mom. My home is the flavour of home cooked food prepared with love and devotion, the taste of refreshing water melons at our summer time Toronto Festival of India, the buttery taste of avocados from my grandmother's garden in Durban. My home is the warmth of my parents hugs when they say goodbye to me every morning, the softness of the blanket I've had since I was a baby, the texture of my backyard soil as I prepare it for May seeds. My home is the heart of He who makes it so.
