Home

What is home to you? Because for me home is not a place it is a feeling. The feeling of my parents tucking me into my warm, cozy bed before I drift off. Or cooking with my Dad, the yummy smells filling my house. The sizzling from the pots reaches my ears. Home is me walking my dog around the block and throwing her tennis ball just for her to come back and repeat it again. Home is with my friends sipping hot chocolate topped with swirly, cloud-like whipped cream. The crunch of the cookies, warm and fresh from the oven. Walking home passing that same corner store and looking down in the winter seeing my footprints in the snow. The feeling of raindrops dancing around on top of my umbrella soaking the newly bloomed tulips and daffodils in spring. That fresh, earthy smell after a spring shower. Waking up to pounding rain on my window. That fear of the crack of lighting or the rumble thunder but I know that I have no need to be scared because I always have a safe and dry home to come back to. Houses are built out of brick, wood, and walls but a home, my home is built from love, kindness, laughter, trust, and most of all the people you love the most. Home is always where I want to be and I wouldn't change it for the world. by Monique
