George´s Perspective of Home

“What is the difference between house and home?” George asked his teacher. ”Well, Ms. Harper replied, “You will find out soon! Next week we are going on a field trip!” George wondered,” How can a field trip be related to any of those words?” . The next week George was finally going to figure out the difference between the two. Ms. Harper announced about the new field trip to the forest. “We are going to visit some people there!” She explained. George was really excited! The day of the field trip, George brought a notebook to write things down. Ms. Harper said “We are going to explore a cabin house to see how people live in forests with no electricity!”. When the bus came to a medium sized cabin, they knocked on the door and someone came to the door. Ms. Harper said, “Hello! Is your name Simon? We are the class who is coming to visit!” The man replied, “Yep! Come inside!” All the kids ran inside the cabin to explore. George walked up to Simon and said, “I have a question, do you know the difference between a house and home?” Simon replied, “Well a house has to be a shelter with some sort of roof, but a home can be anywhere! A home is where there are people who care about you and who are kind to you. You also feel safe and comfortable. It's almost like your happy place.” George looked at Simon and he stared back. “Wow, that was a lot more than I expected.” George mumbled. Simon replied, “ Well I think you should get a look around the house! Somewhere I call home.” After the field trip, George decided to write a poem! Ms. Harper was teaching poems so George wrote one about home. THE END
