Home

Home is where I get lost in books, imagining the lives of runaway princesses and daring pirates. Books have a magical way of comforting me. When I am upset, I go upstairs and read. I come back and feel refreshed and calm, like I’ve just had a nap. In my home I have little nooks where I can curl up and read, such as the Christmas tree, where no one can see me. When I think about the places where I read at home I feel joy. Books have a magical way of comforting and reminding me of my home. My dog Zelda reminds me of home. She is part of our family and I can always find her waiting at the door when I come home. Her toys around the house bring me solace. My home is comforting, and so is she. I can always relax around her. Zelda reminds me of home because she is part of my family. Food, also reminds me of home because there is always enough food for me to feel warm, comfy and loved by my family - all elements of home. Another reason that food reminds me of home is because when I am feeling sad I picture myself on the couch reading books, while my Dad makes taco shell pasta (my favorite food) and it makes me feel happy. Food comforts me because it brings my family together, which I'm so lucky and grateful to be able to do. When my dad was my age he was not able to have dinner with his family because his mom was a nurse and father a serious doctor. My home is not my house, it is the feeling of reading a book, being with my family, and eating my favorite foods.
