My Vision of Home

Home, the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. That is the definition. But home is so much more than a house. It is not just a building, made of bricks and cement, concrete and glass. My favorite is family because home is where your family is. Home is a feeling. A feeling of joy. Of happiness. Of respect. A place where you are welcome. Home to me feels like a place where you can feel happy, sad, angry, every feeling, and people will help you no matter what. Home should feel like happiness and like someone comforting you through all the tears you shed. Home should sound like a sweet lullaby, putting you to sleep with joy for tomorrow. Home should taste like the first sip of water you have taken after walking through a dessert. Like your favorite food, prepared with love. Home should smell of roses and daffodils, lavender and jasmine. Home should look like the city of lights, Paris, at night, beautiful and bright, canceling out the darkness. But you cannot only look at the good things. Some people may not have a home, and may not be as lucky as you or me. “Commitment is an act, not a word.” Sartre, a famous poet, said that. But still, one person cannot do this by themselves. We need to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. “We must act out of passion before we feel it.” Sartre said this too. The longer we wait, the more people suffer. Act now. THE END.
