Our Home

A house is a place with ceilings and walls, A place filled with nothing, No love at all. A carpet, maybe, a table and chairs The only thing filling it is dust and air. A home is quite different, see A place full of love, where I can be me. Home has art, Hanging all over my walls That I made with support, And I hang them tall. Home is a place filled with love, dog hair, Dirty dishes and cups After breakfast with relatives, Pancakes and syrup Our home is a place where I first make mistakes Because I learn new things every day. I am comfortable with being completely me At our home with my brothers Is my place to feel happy and judgment free At home I have a choice, A voice A place to be me Where I am who I am Where I'm grateful to be Our home is not just a house; It's a family It's what fills the inside That makes it the place to be And we are so glad to have a place to be We take it for granted, But we are so lucky To even have walls To keep us safe It's not just for shelter; It provides a place Where we play with our strengths We comfort each other Where we'd go to any lengths; I'd do anything for my brothers I'm happy to have a home; Some aren't as fortunate Many live in streets, alone; Houses can cost a fortune I wish that everyone could have a home like ours Where you have a supportive family, A place to love, a place to feel free Where you aren't judged, Put down, or uncared for Because as soon as you walk through the front door, It's not my home, it's ours.
