The Meaning of Home

Home is a place where I am safe and healthy. Not exposed to the rain in spring or the snow in winter. Where I am protected from the cold by the walls of my house. Where I have good food to eat and a way to cook it. Where I am free to be myself. Home is where I can be myself, where I’m not judged or abused. Where I feel safe and protected by my family, and can do anything I can put my mind to Home is where I can spend time with my family. Where I eat my mom’s homemade pizza with my family on a Friday night. Where I have buttery popcorn for a movie night and eat half of it before the movie starts. Where I watch the Leafs game with my dad on a Saturday or watch the Blue Jays with my mom on a Sunday. Where I play catch with my little brother on a summer day. Where I can invite my friends over for my birthday party, and hear them and my whole family screaming “Happy Birthday” Where I roast marshmallows over the campfire with my siblings yelling and screaming and running in the background. Home is where the fun begins and memories are made. A home is not the same as a house. A house is just shelter, a necessity for living, but a home has everything. A loving family, good food, and chances to make memories. I am fortunate enough to have not only a house, but a home.
