Find your own meaning of home.

Everyone can find something in the meaning of home. It varies based on the individual and who they are, but everyone has it in their heart. Growing up, my mom was never really free to live like a typical teenager. While the war was breaking out between Ethiopia and Eritrea, she had to go to school like everyone else. Though it was interfering with her education, my mother still attended school, thinking there was always the possibility of a better tomorrow. I’m glad my mom had support from her five sisters, her mother, and her uncle. I think it’s thanks to these people that my mom can share wonderful memories she had with her family at home. No matter what was going on, home was always the safest place for her. I’m glad I’m blessed with the opportunities my mom was never given. I can grow up without the fear that war will break out or that I won’t have to hear bombs going off in the middle of class. Due to the sacrifices made by a lot of immigrant parents, our generation is able to have a safe place they can call home. Everyone deserves a home where they can feel safe and free without fear. Because of my somebody else's story, I was able to find my own meaning of home.
