Meaning of Home

Meaning of Home By: Sola Ishii For me, home is a place that is welcoming. It feels very pleasant and enjoyable. Warm inside or outside where people are there for me. It never ever matters if anyone is a little different. It makes them unique. Even when I feel like you can’t overcome or do something, the people around me help. When I am depressed, people try to cheer me up. When I am happy, the people also seem happy. That is what a welcome, including home, is to me. Home to me is a place that also is safe. A safe home doesn't have to be a house. It is where I feel like I want. It can be where my friends and family are, it can be at school, or anywhere. Still there are some conditions where home is. First, it has to be a place I feel comfortable. It can not be outside in the freezing cold in the middle of the winter. Second, the place has to be where I can move around easily. It can not be a place that has broken floor planks, broken windows or other stuff, even if I want to. It can be very life threatening sometimes. Third, it has to be clean. If the place has bacteria, dangerous bugs, dirty water or other dangerous things, I might lose my life. Thanks to Halifax for Humanity, they build us safe homes. Last, home is a place where I count. Every person matters and deserves a home. It is very heartbreaking to see a homeless person out on the streets. Everyone would like a home and to help, we could join the Meaning of Home contest. I hope everyone in the country has a safe, happy home.
