What Makes Home Special
What makes my home special to me is that I have a safe place to stay and a safe place to feel. Where I walk into my home and it smells like strawberries and bananas. It’s where I can store my memories with my family and friends. My home is like a warming fireplace. Where I feel I can be myself without any judgment. My home is where I feel welcome. Where I feel confident and happy. Where me and my family have movie nights with popping popcorn. Where I go ice skating with the sound of laughter. Where I wake up to a yummy breakfast and my mom saying how much she loves us. Where the is smiling down on us in the summertime and ice cream dripping down on my arm on a hot sunny day. Where I spend Christmas making cookies and pouring the milk for Santa Claus and leaving carrots out for his reindeer with my sister. Where I eat dinner with my family, laughing together. Where I have a safe place to talk about my feelings. Where I have been raised not to judge anyone and to always treat people with kindness and respect. My family brings me so much joy and happiness, and always lightens my day when I feel like an unlighted candle. Where my mom makes home cooked meals, and they are always the best. Where I feel so much loved and cared for. Where I go biking with my family on a gorgeous fall morning, the sun smiling down on us. The birds singing, and the leaves dancing in the wind. Where I grew up to a background of Indigenous culture and dance powwow in my red jingle dress, and bead earrings with my mom.
