What Home Really Means

There are a lot of sayings that people have about home - “Home is where the heart is.” “Home sweet home.” - but none can compare to what I think home really means. A home doesn’t necessarily mean the house that you live in. It means a place where you feel loved and safe and where you have memories. It means a place where you can just plop down on a couch and relax. Whether you're talking to family, eating a home cooked meal, or just sitting in comfortable silence, home is where you are loved. Home is a safe place. Safety can mean many things. It can mean you are safe talking to the people that are around you. It can mean you have a sense of security or it can mean you are safe to be yourself. No matter what safety means to you, a home is a safe place. Loving people are what surround you in a home. These people will support you no matter what. They will support your every move and they will always be there for you. If you do not feel this way in a home… it is not a home. Home is peaceful. In your home, you should be able to just sit down in a comfortable position and relax. You should be able to just take a breather and not have to worry about problems in your social life, school, or work. That is what I think home means. I love my home so much and I can't think of a life without it. I think that everybody deserves a home. They deserve a place where they can be themselves and a place where they don’t have to worry; a place where they can sit down and take a break. They deserve a place where they can be held by those they love and where they can make memories. I think that everybody needs a home.
