What the Meaning of Home is

Everyone deserves to have a home. There is a difference between a house and a home. A house is a structure with a roof and 4 walls, or sometimes an apartment building. A home is a place where you feel safe and welcomed, a place where you can be yourself. Home is a place that brings comfort and happiness. A home is also a place where you feel loved, a familiar place. It’s not just the structure that makes a home a home, it’s the people that make it home, the memories and usually the feeling of joy it brings. I’ve never thought of the difference between a house and a home before. Everybody deserves a place to feel joy, comfort and love. It really breaks my heart to know that some people don’t have a place to call home, and some people have to call the streets home, because the streets aren't a place to call home. I am honestly glad that Habitat for Humanity has become a thing. It’s amazing that Habitat for Humanity has given so many people a place to call home. Everyone’s meaning of home is going to be slightly different, but this is my meaning of home.
