Why home is home to me

Home to me isn’t a building, a structure or four walls; it's a place where I feel safe, secure and loved. Home is where me and my family all play games and laugh together after a long day, where me and my brothers play hockey outside on a cold winter’s day and go back inside for a nice cup of hot cocoa, where me and my family sit down to watch a Christmas movie during the holidays and where we all sit down at the table in the morning for homemade apple pancakes and delicious sticky maple syrup before we go out to watch my brothers and I play hockey early in the morning. Home is where I hear the soft tinkling of the piano being played all through the day and where we all swim and play games together in the pool during the blazing hot summer days. Home isn’t just the place where I live or the town, it's Canada, a safe and beautiful country where fresh maple syrup is made. Home is also where me and my family all bake and cook together near the holidays and make snowmen outside in the dropping temperatures of the winter. Home is the warm and delicious taste of fresh soup touching my lips after skating outside on the small lake in the woods with my family and neighborhood friends during the cold winter. I can be myself without the fear of being judged and know that I am loved and cared about and where I feel free and never feel the need to act any different than I am. Home is a place where everyone in my family is themselves. Home is my family, home is Canada, home is love And that is why home is home to me.
