~What Home Could Be~

Home is not a structure, it’s a place where you feel safe and loved. A home doesn’t have four walls and many rooms but a home is built up by trust, comfort, and family. Your house might not even feel the same when you’re alone. That's because YOUR meaning of home is gone. Here's my meaning of home and what home could be. Were you ever left alone in your house and you had a feeling that you just can’t shake? Well, it’s probably because your meaning of home is gone. My meaning of home involves many things. One of those things is family. I’m at that age where I can stay home alone. And trust me when I say this, it’s nothing compared to what Kevin Mcalister felt. It’s more like a feeling of melancholy when my family is not present. Another thing that makes me feel at home is comfort and love. Sure, your house is comfortable with nice, soft, maybe even fluffy furniture. But it’s the comfortable feeling of unconditional love from my peers that really makes the word home light up. Being around my home gives me a gargantuan feeling of joy. My meaning of home is also my mini fluffy companions, a.k.a my two lovely cats; Dashi and Mei. That brings me onto my next point, family isn’t always blood related. It’s your family if you love and care for them. You might not even have to show, I think they’ll know. For example, my cats are family. They are family because I cuddle them,I feed them, I play with them, I love them and care for them. Family could also be like a step sibling or step parent. Do you have a step sibling or step parent in your household? Not all of them are like Cinderellas, don’t worry. But they only count as family if you really think they are. There's a few ways to know if they’re real family. They’re real family if they love you, care for you, make you feel comfortable, or even being a very trustworthy person. My final point, your home doesn’t have to be alive. Home doesn’t necessarily have to be a living thing, it could maybe be a place. I play hockey a lot which means i’m at the arena often. I've been there so many times that it’s starting to feel like home to me. Skating on the ice just gives me an elated feeling. Your home could also be a cartoon character. I’m not necessarily attached to a cartoon character but I always love to make connections. Or maybe even a hobby or an activity makes you feel at home. Maybe when you do art, sports, reading, e.c.t it makes you feel at home. Those are some things that home is to me and that could be home. Always remember, a home is a structure built up by trust, comfort, and love. From family, to stepsiblings, to pets, to hobbies/activities, to even a place. There's never a wrong answer to what home could be.
