A place called home

Home is more than it seems. Home is filled to the brim with love, and that's all a person needs. I hold my home up high, for everyone to see I am proud of it. My home is just for me. Home is where my family is. I know they love me with all their heart, I know they’ll never leave my side even when we're apart. They’ll pick me up during the bad parts of life. So I’m glad to say at the end of the day, no matter what I do their answer will always be I love you. Home is a safe place. No one can hurt me here. In this place I have nothing to fear. Because The lock on my door makes me feel safe and protected. I can go to bed without feeling neglected. I can be worry free with the safety of my home. I am safe here. There's no place like home. Home is where I can simply be me. Here I can be what I want to be. I feel more welcome than ever when my dog greets me at the door. Her slobber of love drips to the floor. My parents tuck me into bed. I have many thoughts drifting in my head. The thought of homelessness and how it's not fair. The thought of how I have food and money to spare. So I’m glad I have a safe happy home and this is why I wrote this Habitat for humanity poem.
