Home

My home is a place I’m loved. My home isn’t a place where I'm judged. My home is a place I’m safe. My home isn’t one place, it’s many. My home is with my family, friends and trusted people. At dinner when my family eats together and shares about our days at the table, I feel at home. At recess, when I’m laughing and playing with my friends, I feel at home. The sight of everyone around me with smiles on their faces is my home. The touch of a helping hand, of someone who cares, is my home. The sound of laughter and happiness is my home. The smell of dinner when I arrive at my house is my home. The taste of homemade meals that my dad makes is my home. To me, my home is not my house. I’ve moved into different houses multiple times, and my home moves with me, unlike my house. I’m able to stay in touch with friends from where I used to live, even though I’m not there. I have moved houses, but I’ve never moved homes.
