What is a Home?

The meaning of the word “home” is different for everyone. This is what home means to me. My home for me isn’t just a place or a building. This might sound weird for some people but my home is a person. I can be in my house and I won’t feel at home, because my special person isn’t there. When my sister or dad isn’t there, of course I miss them, they’re family but when my mom’s not home it’s just a house to me. Before my Great Grandpa died I had 2 people that made me feel at home. He passed away on January 20 2022. When I think of home, I think of my mom’s warm hugs and I smell her essential oils. I think of my Great Grandpa’s warm hand rubbing my back. I smell my Long Amma making homemade pönnukökur. It feels like home. I love my home. Habitat for Humanity is amazing !! They give people in need of a house a soon to be home. A house is a building, a shelter a home is memories and family. That is what home means to me.
