What Home Means to Me

Home to me is a safe place to go whenever I want, and I will always feel welcome and loved no matter what. Home has a very special place in my heart and it always will. Home has so many memories of my family and my pets. Home has a special smell to it, whereas a house just has a new smell but nothing like the way my home smells. I will always remember when my mum and her boyfriend broke up and we had to stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, but then my mum's boss let us stay with her until we found somewhere to live. When we first moved into our new house, it was awesome, but not the same as the smell of the barn and being able to run and run for what felt like forever. But I love my new house more than my old farm because I have really nice neighbours, and my mum and I have lived there for just over 3 years. It would mean a lot to me if I won so I could help someone in a similar situation as I was because no one should have to live in a hotel or in their mum's boss’s house ever. It's not fair to have to live with three people in a two bedroom hotel room. That’s why I want to win this contest, so I can help people in my community to have an affordable house to live in with enough space for their family and pets, if they have any. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving others in my community the opportunity to have a hand up and receive an affordable house, that when they fill it with love, will become their forever home.
